Last night on HGTV, we saw a show that mentioned “Wainscoting” and it reminded Ryan of a recent job Artistic Finishes, Inc. did in Parkland.  Wainscoting is the trim or paneling usually along the bottom portion of a wall.

After the carpenter from Elegant Homes Design Group installed the 180 linear ft. custom designed Wainscot to the walls, Artistic Finishes began the four to five week process of transforming it into a piece of art.  Ryan had prepared a finished sample which the customer approved before they began.

Artistic Finishes began by prepping the woodwork which included caulking, puttying, and sanding.  They then masked off the area and sprayed a lacquer primer called Clawlock® over the entire Wainscoting.  After the primer was dry the Wainscoting was lightly sanded and then the basecoat was applied. Then we began glazing with an antique glaze over all the surfaces.  After all the glazing was complete we came back in and highlighted some of the detail work with gold and copper metallic.  We also applied a spatter technique over the surface.  We finished off the Wainscoting by applying a satin finish polyurethane varnish to protect it.

The customer was well pleased and has invited us back to Faux Finish the walls above the Wainscoting.
